Ingredients
Method
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the bowtie pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the diced bell peppers and onion. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly browned.
- Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Break it apart and cook until fully browned. Drain off any excess fat.
- Season the Mixture: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Add the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Add Sauce and Simmer: Pour in the pasta sauce and stir to combine. Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Combine with Pasta: Add the cooked bowtie pasta to the skillet. Gently toss until the pasta is evenly coated and everything is well combined.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve hot. Optional: Top with shredded cheese or chopped fresh parsley for extra flavor.
Notes
- Required Equipment: Large pot for boiling pasta, large skillet (or sauté pan), spatula or wooden spoon for breaking up beef.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
- Freezing: Cool completely, then store in a freezer-safe container for up to two months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.
- Substitutions: Ground turkey, chicken, or plant-based crumbles can be used instead of ground beef. Any short pasta (penne, rotini, shells) will work well in place of bowtie.
