Ingredients
Method
- Mix the spices: In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Season the meat: Pat the beef brisket dry with a paper towel. Rub the spice mixture evenly over all sides of the meat, pressing it gently so it sticks.
- Add liquid to the pot: Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce into the bottom of your slow cooker insert.
- Cook low and slow: Place the seasoned brisket into the slow cooker, fat side facing up. Cover with the lid and cook on LOW for 8 to 9 hours, until the meat is completely tender.
- Rest and slice: Carefully remove the brisket from the slow cooker and transfer it to a cutting board. Cover it loosely with foil and let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes. Slice the meat thinly against the grain and serve with the juices from the pot.
Notes
If your brisket has a very thick layer of fat on top, you can trim it down slightly with a sharp knife before seasoning, but leave a thin layer intact. That fat melts during the long cook time and keeps the beef from drying out.
